Triple J Auto Group, a division of Triple J Enterprises, Inc., presented the GMHVA with a 2015 Kia Soul during a press conference held this morning in their Upper Tumon showroom. The vehicle will be used to support GMHVA’s 2015 Charity Ball Fund Drive efforts. This generous donation officially kicks off the organizations fundraising activities as they celebrate their 50th Anniversary as an organization.
GMHVA, founded in 1965 by the late Cecilia Bamba, is a non-profit organization whose membership consists of dedicated individuals, who, through their gift of time, talent and personal interest supplement the professional staff in caring for the comfort and the welfare of the patients, staff and visitors of Guam Memorial Hospital.
Guam Memorial Hospital proudly hails the GMH Volunteers Association whose efforts have provided the hospital with continuous service as well as millions of dollars worth of invaluable medical equipment, furnishings and services for the past 50 years.
“For the past 50 years, the hospital has received more than $6 million in equipment and services, through the ambitious fundraising work of the volunteers – these include patient beds, operating room equipment, respirators, transport vehicles, and so much more.” Stated Mr. Lee Webber, GMHA Board of Trustees Chairperson.
Yearly fundraising projects such as their Charity Ball and Fund Drive, Thanksgiving Raffle, Bake Sales, and Healing Tree help generate some of the funds. And the Guam Memorial Hospital’s Gift Shop and Gift Cart, wholly managed and operated by volunteers, provides an ongoing source of funding.

Sponsorship of the Annual Charity Ball – GMHVA encourages businesses and the community to support the Guam Memorial Hospital by becoming a corporate sponsor or by making a monetary donation. All funds raised in these efforts will be used towards the purchase of critically needed bladder scanners for the nursing units and a new pulmonary function testing system for the respiratory department. Just in the past three years, the GMHVA has purchased more than $200,000 of hospital equipment each year to include ICU specialized beds, operating room scopes, laboratory urine analyzer and cell washers, ultrasound probes and many more.
GMHVA has been able to assist thousands in our community, providing the best for hospital patients and raising almost $6M to provide for patient room enhancements and medical equipment needs since it was established 50 years ago.
“The association continues to work hard to build upon the legacy that was begun by Cecilia Bamba and the Charter Members, including myself,” said Margaret Jones, Chairperson for this year’s Charity Ball and Charter Member of GMHVA. “The success of GMHVA’s endeavors, past and present, is due to the generous support from the community – Guam’s businesses, civic organizations, government and community leaders, the medical community, and most importantly the friends and families of the volunteers – we could not raise these much needed funds without them.”
When asked what this partnership meant to Triple J, Jeff Jones, President of Triple J Enterprises, Inc. said, “Triple J recognizes the countless hours so generously and selflessly donated by the GMHVA and its members, this vehicle donation is our way to give back to the community in more ways than one – the funds raised from this donation will provide a significant source of funding towards much needed GMH equipment needs.”
Founded to provide a bridge between the hospital and the island community, the association continues to grow its members. At present, there are over 150 committed volunteers assisting and donating their personal time to Guam Memorial Hospital in providing the best possible health care for the community of Guam.
